coat gives the major attraction to these breeds.
Overview
The overview reveals that though many countries
claim its origin, The name Poodle actually originates from
the German word – Pudel which means one who plays in
water.
The country of its origin is many times debatable.
However, France is the declared country from which it originated.
Character
These breeds are more intelligent
and may love water and going in boats. Their calmness in dealing
with the situations make them as better choices as guard dogs
and moves well with strangers.
These dogs are okay if reared in apartment
but with proper exercised on a daily basis.
Temperament
The SP is often a calm dog and loves the
playful exercises. Some owners may even call them as Ambassador
of Goodwill because of their loving nature towards children
and others.
They are playful and become
happy when you engage them in activities.
Care
The tooth needs regular scaling and the skin
has to be given regular bathing. The hair may be regularly
clipped once in six to eight weeks. They need a daily walk
which makes them more fit.
These breeds are prone for
some genetic diseases also including retinal atrophy, which
may be of progressive in nature and cataracts. Ear infections
are commonly encountered in the SP and allergic problems are
also frequently encountered.
Training
These dogs are highly preferred ones for
the training because they immediately pick up the commands
when given in a systematic manner.
The training may be given in the morning
hours and not immediately after the exercise because the dogs
will be in an exhausted state.
Activity
These breeds are inactive inside the houses
but once taken for a playful activity, they become alert.
Joints and important regions need special protection especially
in colder regions or when you take the dog for swimming.
Standard Poodles still retain
their sporting instincts and hence, in a safe area, they need
to be allowed to exercise their running activities. Standard
Poodles always majestic ones in their appearance.
