Pit bulls are the dogs that are loved by the Americans the most. The pit bulls have bad press because of their aggressive nature, but that doesn't deter the Americans love towards these dogs. Pit bulls are very sensitive and intelligent dogs. These dogs can very well understand the love and affection.

These pit bulls are costly animals and can be purchased both from the breeders and rescue shelters. There are few advantages in purchasing the dog from the rescue centers. The cost of the animal will be very less, and one can save the vaccination, neutering and training cost. But the disadvantages are the difficulty in developing the bond to the animal. The other disadvantage is that the dog will be without proper documentation about the breeding details.

In some places these pit bulls are prevented from rearing because of the violent attack they unleash on other animals and the children. As the result these dogs are abandoned just like that or put to sleep [euthanasia]. Such dogs are rescued by these rescue centers and are cared well till they find an affectionate person to rear them.

The rescue centers try to sell these pit bulls via internet. These rescue centers, most of the voluntary organizations advertise in the internet about the pit bulls they have.

The price, age, color, trait, past history etc will be well documented in the advertisement. Mostly the pit bulls that are rescued are neutered or spayed. The pit bulls will be given the required vaccinations. The training of the animal which is mandatory in case of pit bull would have been provided by the previous owner. This way the most difficult part of the bit bull rearing gets over before adoption.

Pit bulls adoption is much better than the pit bull puppy purchase. The puppies are certainly very cute to look at; there is no denial on this. But puppies are more sensitive to the change of food, change of place, change of climate etc. the puppy's immune level is low, hence they are more prone for diseases.

Extra bit of veterinary care is required for the puppies. The urinary bladder of the pit bull puppies are weak, hence can't store the urine for long. The puppies will urinate every now and then [one hour interval].

Training the puppy to pass urine outside the house is important part of the training, which requires patience. At times the person may need to lead the pit bull puppy to the place outside the house even at night. As the dogs grow older, they can hold the urine in the bladder over night and there ends the problem.

The pit bulls can be adopted from the owner straight without the intervention of the rescue centers. The owner may like to abandon pit-bull for so many reasons the most common reason being the shifting of a place where the pit bull petting is banned. But in this procedure there is lot of risk attached to it.

The owner may hide some important information about the pit bull such as the vaccination status, lineage, health problems etc. Hence it advisable to take the help of the veterinarian before adopting the pit bull directly from the owner.
