Pet and garden are the part and parcel of a dog's life. Dogs, our beloved pets at times eat the grass in our garden. Hence garden protection from dog is the topic to be discussed.

The dog after consuming grass immediately vomits. Some people have the doubt in their mind that whether the dog eats grass to vomit or they eat the grass just like that. Certainly dogs are not that intelligent to consider the grass for its medicinal value.

Many professionals feel that the dog must be eating the grass tempted by its taste. Dog vomiting occurs because it is not tolerated by the dog’s digestive system as they are carnivores. If the plant or the grass had received herbicide or fertilizer to assist its growth, then the dog is most likely to get severe problems. The problem can be from mild stomach upset to loss of life in severe case.

In the universe there are some plants with their name linking them to animals. Pussy willow, lamb’s ear, and cat tail are to name a few. These plants are named like that as they resemble those animals by the outside look. The dog’s jaws, teeth and its digestive system suggest that they are meat eaters by nature. Of course they do require some vegetarian items in their diet. Wild dog species in addition to their flesh and bone eating, consume partly digested vegetable matter from herbivore [intestinal content of herbivore]. This helps the dog to digest the meat and bone better.

Some experts feel that dogs eat grass to improve their digestion and many experts don't agree with this. Agrospyron canina [couch grass] is the most liked plant by the dog. The common belief is that the dogs consume this plant to make their digestive system free from worms. The pet [dog] eating grass may be controversial subject but no body can dispute the fact that herbs are used in the treatment of many ailments such as skin problems, fleas, obesity, arthritis, kidney problem, digestive problems etc.

We need to prevent our dog from eating the grass and garden protection from the dog is must. Our dogs, by eating the grass, not only spoil the beauty of the garden but also its health.

The dog should be kept in the kennel with sufficient adjoining space to move about. The garden can be protected by fence so that the dogs cannot go near the plant. We can have separate gate for the garden which can be closed when we are not in the garden.

We can avoid planting grass that has attractive smell and taste there by preventing the dog from getting tempted. Pet and garden are important hobbies of an individual. So he should concentrate on both without injuring one another.
