Breed Group

Lhasa apso is a hunting and non-sporting breed group and is expected to follow the intruder with barking until the owner sights the intruder. This Lhasa apso breed is an attractive one due to its hairy nature.

Weight

Female dogs weigh about twelve to fourteen pounds, whereas the male dogs weigh about fourteen to eighteen pounds.

Forelegs need to be straight and the hind limbs have to be more muscular in nature.

Height

According to the American kennel club, the LA should measure about ten to eleven inches at the withers.

Color(s)

All color(s) are acceptable ones with or without dark tips to beard and ears. The chocolate color mixed with white is highly liked by many persons.

Coat

The coat is a double layered one and the coat should always be a neat one without much knots. The wet coat has to be taken special care.

Overview

Overview about this dog reveals that this animal originated from Tibet and specifically this breed was reared to take care of the protection works in monasteries.

Character

They love playful exercises and are lovable animals due to their tiny size. They are intelligent also.

Temperament

They are mischievous dogs and are suspicious when strangers visit the houses. However, they are playful in nature and are active ones.

These dogs too have jealous temperament just like that of pomeranians, when due attention is not paid to them by their owners.

Care

Due to the longhair materials and buffy nature, care measures need to be enriched by good grooming activities and such activities are given special emphasis always.

External parasites like ticks, lice etc. need to be checked up constantly in this breed and skin disorders need immediate attention like fungal infection in this breed.

Training

The LA may be given a daily exercise for about twenty to thirty minutes. However, when you notice them with wheezing features, then reduce the quantum of exercise and give immediate rest.

Some dogs of this breed are stubborn in nature and hence, training may be come difficult some times with this breed.

Activity

These dogs are agile in nature. These dogs run so fast and are liked by many persons since the hair materials moving to sides during running become much attractive. Their activity can be judged by their playing characters.
